Blogging is a fantasic tool that allows for anybody and everybody to have a voice. By using a blog, you can publish your thoughts for a few hundred or several thousand people to see. Blogs can serve as a way for their authors to express opinions and dispense information about their specific industry and/or product without creating an advertisement. When you do it right, you attract a mountain of interested readers and potential clients to subscribe to your blog and hopefully grow into becoming loyal customers. Doing it right can also build your overall web presence by contributing new fresh content for visitors to your website and help build your SEO organic results by using specific keywords in your blog posts. But before you can jump right into being an online success, you must first learn the fine art of blogging.
Doing your Homework Make sure you do your homework before jumping into a blog. It may appear easy, but make sure to check out other blogs in your industry to see what is exciting and acceptable for your target demographic. Search the internet for the name of your industry followed by the word blog or search your competitors websites to view theirs. Creating a post The internet has made it so easy for anyone and everyone to have access to blog creation tools. Do a search of different options (wordpress, blogger, etc) to help decide which is best for you. Most of these tools are extremely easy to use and very straightfoward. Appearing much like an email application. Make sure that before publishing, double-check your grammar and spelling. Nothing turns off an educated buyer or a potential customer then a website with typos and grammatical errors. Adding keywords and tags When creating a blog post your goal should be to persuade as many potential customers to engage in reading. But in order to read your brilliant ideas they need to be able to find you in a maze of other industry bloggers. There are two way to optimize a post;
When using keywords directly in the post text make sure to only use relevant keywords. Search engines do not look kindly to people trying to trick their algorithm programs nor do the people reading your posts like reading information littered with keywords irrelevant to the post content. Use the same theory when adding tags to the tages text field. use relevant tags to try and invite the right people to come and read your blog. make sure that every individual tag is seperated by a comma. Timing posts Loyal readers will look forward to recieving your blog posts at about the same time on whatever days you write your blog posts. Most blog creation tools allow for easily schedule posting, allowing you to write a blog at anytime and have it post at the exact desired time that you wish. In my opinion, i would recommend posting blog posts at 'internet high' times. Most people are not on the internet leisurely during working hours of a weekday. Although lunch hour and directly after the average work day (between 5pm and 6pm) are both times with many people leisurely surfing the internet. Customer retention Allowing readers to comment on your blog post offers your readership the opportunity to be intimately involved in your content. unfortunately, comments also are used by spammers and trolls. The best way to combat spammers is to make it a requirement that every comment be moderated by the blog administrator. This way it will not be made public until you have reviewed it. The biggest benefit to allowing readers to make comments is the availability to recieve feed back of not only your content, but also your company in general. This opens the door to thanking customers/readers who are happy with your contributions and to mitigating customer churn by helping unsatified customers/readers find a solution to their specific problem. Announcing new posts All of your new posts are automatically sent to your subscribers. But what can you do to attract new potential clients and build new subscribers? the easiest way to announce a new post is to use your other existing social media outlets. attaching your blog posts to your Twitter/Facebook/Google+ accounts will allow your new post to be exposed to the world wide social media community. Don't forget to use hashtags when possible to try and attack your target market on a social media level. Analytics Lastly but definatly not least is tracking your blog posts. Before you even start creating content on your new blog you should have an analytical tool set up for your blog site so that you can track each and every post. Google Analytics allows you to see statisitcs (demographics, post popularity, etc) that could prove very valuable to your company. Make sure that analytics is not brushed to the side as it is one of the most effective ways to monitor your blog's success. Happy Blogging! |
